Common Questions
SDE does not do project based pricing, but instead works hourly and sells blocks of time. This eliminates contract disputes and increases customer satisfaction. Some projects elements will have set fees though.

A website is a very complicated and time consuming venture. Your average person does't understand what is involved with setting up a new site. How many pages do you want? Do you have all the content? What does your website need to do? This is just the tip of the iceberg. Not to mention, especially with new clients, we tend to do hourly based work until the client is familiar with how the web design process works. Please see this question for more information.

Typically, with a new client, we request the client maintain a small account deposit that hourly work is deducted from. This eliminates disputes and arguments over contracts. This also allows the client the flexibility to change things around and add whatever features/graphics/content on the fly. Without requiring new contracts and hassles. We do this mainly because most people don't realize how much time is involved in web development and web design work. Most clients also don't realize how much they will want things changed around, redesigned, and added. In a contract there are limits to this, which can cause serious frustration for both parties.
Once a client has worked with us a while and/or shows literacy in the industry we are willing to negotiate set project costs on larger projects and under special circumstances.

Surprisingly we get this question a lot. Most people don't understand that we are professionals and have been doing this for years. Yes someone can pickup a book and throw together a simple website, but there are so many missing elements not factored in that for anything other then a VERY basic webpage this will not cut it. We offer templates for the D-I-Yers on a tight budget as well.
Anyone can pick up a brush and paint, but only a truly dedicated artist can paint a master piece. Please see this question for more information.

To create an effective website you have to take into consideration many different elements:
1) You need to fully analyze the business and create an in depth outline to effectively display and market it's services. With out this you are throwing an unorganized pile of information to the consumer. They will only get frustrated and leave your site.
2) You need to create an effective design that smoothly guides potential customers into the appropriate areas of your site. This is based off the project outline created a step before.
3) You need to fill in the design with quality content to inspire user confidence and secure your new sale.
This is just a very basic tip of the iceberg. Each one of these steps can be broken down into many more elements, but if you start thinking about it you will see how deep this process can go.
